What Does HOSA mean to you, and How do you think it will benefit you in the future?
HOSA is being given opportunities and experiences to learn and explore different options in the medical field. Students are able to be involved in the community by spreading awareness about health related topics and by participating and volunteering with different organizations. HOSA has provided me with opportunities to lead, learn, and grow. - Princess Mae Visconde ( JCHS HOSA Former President)
HOSA is the stepping stone to getting ahead and figuring out what you want to be in the future. HOSA allows you to learn about the medical field and has many opportunities to becoming a future health professional. Students are able to become leaders through community and school events and teach others in the community about health related topics. Through HOSA I was able to figure out what I wanted to do in the future as a health professional and I was able to take on opportunities that no other student could have done if it weren't for HOSA. - Sherlynn Garces (JCHS HOSA Former Vice President)
To me HOSA means being given the opportunity to immerse yourself in a number of health issues and topics. Last school year three people, including myself, initiated a conversation on community mental health, and through that experience, we were able to educate ourselves on various mental health disorders. By becoming a member of HOSA, not only did I gain knowledge about medical-related concerns, but I also was given the opportunity to volunteer and spread different types of awareness throughout my community with the support of so many great people - Christian Dela Cruz ( JCHS HOSA Current Vice President )
HOSA to me is the beginning of infinite possibilities that I could pursue in the medical field in the future. Through HOSA I obtained knowledge, experience, and skills that I hadn't known before. It has confirmed my decision of pursuing a career in the medical field and helping others along the way to get to where they want to be as well. HOSA is an inspiration, a goal, a "team" effort, and Future Medical Leaders. ♡ - Malia Bush (JCHS HOSA Current Secretary )
What HOSA means to me is a gateway to opportunities. Since the time I have commenced my membership, HOSA has provided me with an abundance of opportunities out in the community. The activities ranged from helping out at a local events, promoting health organizations, to raising awareness and fundraising for health-related causes. The annual HOSA competition has also allowed me to become accustomed to the type of workforce the medical field presents by hosting various guest speakers originating from different fields of study. The competition experience had greatly impacted me in a way that I became more well-acquainted with the theme of our event, mental health disorders. Through these experiences I have gained valuable connections, knowledge, and most importantly, skills – leadership skills, communication skills, teamwork skills, and customer service skills. Because of what HOSA has offered me, I truly believe that I can utilize the skills I have honed in not only my future career, but also in everyday life. - Alicia Lau (JCHS HOSA Current Publicist)
